The history of our company – Jean Sabine –
a fabrics specialist in Flers, France
Named after its founder, the company Jean Sabine has been located in Orne, right in the heart of Normandy since 1955. Our whole team welcomes you in our specialized workshop. Taken over in 1990 by the current management, Jean Sabine keeps on combining the tradition of textile and the modernity for its customer service.
We were first specialized in shoe lining. Our company then expanded its activities with Sabine-Charbet, a brand new sales department dedicated to protective fabrics (tarpaulin canvas, Sergé, numerous armors, with or without backing).
Our history
The following years were made significant by the inclusion of new manufacturing tools focused on the laminating and thermo-adhesive coating fields. Nowadays, a third of our turnover comes from export to Europe, Asia, Maghreb, the United States and Canada.

Different materials
On one hand, we offer different types of materials for leather goods and technical products such as: thermo-adhesive or non-adhesive linings in cotton, non-woven, canvas, tarpaulin and other fabrics with or without backing.
On the other hand, we supply shaping canvas, guttas, and camber jersey for the footwear manufacture…
Thermo-adhesive fabrics
Our machine fleet also allows us to offer custom-made lamination and thermo-adhesive coatings on our customers’ outsourced textiles.
Our thermo-adhesive fabrics – commonly called Gutta – can be adapted to most of your leathers, even the most specific ones: fish leather, reptile, alpaca, mink fur… When the products are too fragile, we may use a variety of glue types and cold-adhesive solutions.
